Project on Organic Produce Supply by Harini Siram

  • Supply chain efficiency: Determine how best we can deliver the product of high quality, service and best price.

  • The future prospective of how the business can be expanded.

  • The approach is to first start from the consumers, identify the demand and then vertical integration to maximise the benefits.

  1. As Indian retailers like flipkart have realized, having offline channels like cash on delivery(COD)/phone support etc helps a lot to boost sales. For your platform therefore, consider the economics of a call centre and COD service, that should exponentially multiply your potential market.

  2. It would be a better idea to also focus on the aspect of inbound and outbound logistics.

    As I understand, you would be using contracted services initially for the same but in the long run, you may consider the possibility of developing an in-house logistics network (similar to courier service). This would require you to project the trend of future demand to find profitable regions to start with

  3. Since the demand of the organic products is highly fragmented you might want to incorporate the aggregation of neighbourhood or even distrcit demnd while preparing your model.
